The Experience of a Lifetime"I have never" was a statement to often stated before December of 2014. My list of "I have never" went like this:
All of this began to change at the beginning of 2014. I discovered that Dr. Cindi Fries organizes and leads an international internship program to the Vienna International School. I was so excited for the opportunity of teaching internationally! I was even more enthusiastic about teaching robotics!! I desired to go on this internship because interning in the public school systems in Oklahoma is one thing, but to be able to observe and teach in an international setting would give me a new perspective that would unlock levels of cultural experiences for my classroom. I decided stepping out would enable me to become an even better teacher for my future students and I knew it would be worth it. Plus, Northeastern State University College of Education/Teacher Education International Intern would look very good on my resume! :-) I became nervous, and more so as departure became closer and closer. My life changed while I was in Vienna. My outlook on life changed. I took that step way outside of my comfort zone and I guarantee you, it was worth it. When I first found out I was going, I had so many questions about what the culture was like, or the food, the cities, the temperature, the students at the school, and many, many other aspects about the trip. I have divided this website into pages. Pages that show different places and opportunities at those places. I hope that these pages may answer some of the questions or nerves you may feel. |
Above is a picture of Saint Stephan's Cathedral. This was lit up at night with the Christmas market right outside of it. This was one of my most favorite places just to stand and look. There is so much to the building in itself; from being the target of the bombing all around, to the particular designs etched into it's walls. I am not a history fan, but Vienna changed that. The best part about the cathedral...it was close to home (our hotel that is). Staying in the same hotel, leaving for a few days, and returning back to the same hotel truly made it feel like home. :-)
